The host of this year's MTV Europe Music Awards is Xzibit. The rap star, and serial ride-pimper, will take charge of proceedings at this year's ceremony, taking place in Rome on November 18.

DJ: You know, kinda like Nick Carter. *Tommy laughs* That's sort of a interesting friendship that has stunned and shocked all of us since the first day. How did that happen?
Tommy: Okay, this is interesting because you know how managers call other managers, that kind of a vibe? Well, Nick's manager called mine and said 'Hey, he's working on a solo record and would like Tommy to collaborate with him on some stuff. He's looking for some heavier sounding stuff.' And I was like, 'Whoa, this is strange.' But, you know, I took the meeting, you know, why not? The worst thing that could happen was, you say no and you don't do it. Forget Backstreet Boy Nick Carter's "nice guy" image — his first leading role finds him playing a jerk jock in a modern update of the Headless Horseman tale, premiering this weekend on ABC Family. Carter shot his part in "The Hollow" some time ago, while the Backstreet Boys were still figuring out their reunion plans, but in the horror film's journey to find a home, it has been slightly revised for a television audience — Carter's steamy love scene, for instance, has been cut. But Carter said that the film doesn't skimp on scares. "It gets you excited, gets your blood flowing, sometimes you get goose bumps," he said. His character, Brody, helps provide some of those scary moments by pulling practical jokes on his supposed friends. Not quite a bully, Brody has a few issues — such as forcing his fellow classmates to give him their homework to copy and trying to force the head cheerleader, Karen (Kaley Cuoco from "8 Simple Rules"), to go to prom with him. He pranks everyone, even pretending to be the Headless Horseman to Ian Cranston, the great-grandson of Ichabod Crane who is unaware of his lineage. In another instance, Brody goes down to the graveyard for a late-night visit with two ill-fated schoolmates (one of whom, Amber, is played by former Dream singer Melissa Schuman). "We stop by this one tombstone, but it's got some, like, bars in it," Carter said. "I decide to stick my hand in, but I'm like, 'You guys scared?' So when I stick it in, I act like something grabs me and pulls me, and I scare the crap out of the kids, and they take off. That's who Brody is: a prankster." Unfortunately for Brody's classmates, his antics couldn't come at a worse time, since unbeknownst to them, the vengeful spirit of the real Headless Horseman has been awakened. "Everybody knows the story of the Headless Horseman, and the legend of Sleepy Hollow," Carter said, "but no one really knew what happened to Ichabod Crane. What this takes from is that Ichabod Crane escaped from Sleepy Hollow, moved away, moved to New York, and actually lived and started a family. Three generations later, his grandson moves back. It's mainly a story about revenge of the Headless Horseman, who does not know how to rest in peace." Carter doesn't know how to rest, either. Once "The Hollow" was in the can, he quickly moved on to his next role in another horror film, "The Brew," currently in post-production. He's looking to expand his sideline as an actor with future roles, but for now he's happy to have learned the ropes with this one. "It might not be my best work," he said, "so if you look in the future and you look back at this, I mean, I guess that's what acting's all about. You've got to start somewhere." Co-star Cuoco, however, would advise him — tongue in cheek, of course — to steer clear of doing too many horror flicks, since being in a boy band for so many years has done something to his voice. "Nick screams like a girl," she joked. "Sorry, Nick, but you do. Girlier than me. Don't let him tell you otherwise."

The Hollow DVD has been released in Spain. This version is in Spanish (obviously) and has been circulating on the Internet. A friend of mine downloaded it and sent me Nick's scenes (he's in 14 scenes) and he looks HOT! The movie will premiere in North America on the ABC Family Channel on Sunday, October 24th at 8PM with encores at 10PM and Saturday, October 30th at 8 & 10PM. If you're desperate to see it and can't wait until it airs, you can download the Spanish version at firedivx.com. Don't ask me how it works cause I don't know. Nick's scenes are too big to upload on my site (over 200 MBs), but if I can get smaller versions somehow, I'll see about uploading them.

Paris Hilton's new look, those nasty bruises she's been sporting, did not come from the hand of ex-boyfriend Nick Carter, according to the hotel heiress herself. Rather the bruises were the result of a magazine photo shoot with a boxing theme, she has told friends. Images of the occasional Gold Coast girl and co-star of the infamous Millsy balcony scene first emerged last week. Paris looked battered, sporting bruised arms and a cut lip on the covers of virtually every gossip mag. It was suggested she had been beaten by her drunken ex-boyfriend in a drunken rage.
But she is telling friends the injuries were from an FHM cover shoot, a Confidential source in Las Vegas revealed. "She was dressed up as a boxer," the source said. The Sydney-based publicist caught up with Paris, Nicole Richie and Tara Reid this week and said the mysterious bruising was more a case of dress-ups and a few hard knocks than the result of a "fiery altercation" over Paris' fidelity with her ex-Backstreet Boy. FHM Australia editor John Bastick yesterday confirmed the comments. "Paris definitely did an FHM cover shoot very recently for the New York office," he told Confidential. "From what I hear she looked pretty beaten up. We're a violent bunch here at FHM - we don't pay our models, we just bash them." It was originally reported the bruises came from a rough "S&M shoot" for Rolling Stone but the magazine's reps deny the shoot was of an S&M nature and insist, in fact, that it took place way back on July 19.

The Q102 morning co-host went out with the Backstreet Boyssinger in 2002 and doesn't buy the New York Post's report that he caused Hilton's recent bruises. "The Nick I knew would never lay a hand on a woman, especially a woman he loves," Taylor says. Carter has denied hitting Hilton, but Hilton has not yet commented about the bruises, which upsets Taylor. "If she was cool at all, she would come forward to the media in his defense," says Taylor, who also called Hilton "a vile human being...famous for being a skank." If that sounds like jealousy over Carter, it's not. She's now "crazy in love" with Dave Kampel, a Clear Channel radio producer from Chicago. They met in Los Angeles in June and have since traded weekends flying to see each other. She's not new to long distance. When she dated Carter, she was working in Minneapolis and he lived in Florida. "I'll take love where I can find it," says Taylor, joking that finding a guy near her would be "a lot more cost- effective."

Carter and Hilton stunned fans last month (JUL04) when they announced the end of their highly publicised romance after just seven months together. And while Carter has spoken about needing time on recording with his Backstreet Boys bandmates, he's also working with Schuman on a duet. Schuman, who left her Sean 'P Diddy' Combs-constructed group in 2002 to pursue an acting career, says, "Last week went great in the studio. We finished the song 'There for Me' and I'm really happy how it turned out." The track is for an undisclosed upcoming film.

Although Fango originally reported that the film will be going direct to video, it's actually getting a limited theatrical run first in NY and LA, and if that goes well it'll expand to other cities.

The "All I Have To Give" hitmaker has rubbished speculation that he was responsible for Hilton's injuries, which were discovered after she was spotted with a swollen lip and bruised arms at Hollywood's Concord Club last Wednesday (28JUL04). Bruises were spotted on Paris Hilton's arm this past week, and their origin remains a mystery. Sources close to her and her family are blaming Nick Carter in the New York press, but the Backstreet Boy's lawyer calls the reports "bogus" and blames a Rolling Stone photo shoot. Hilton and Carter had dished their sides of a July 22 phone breakup in recent issues of Us Weekly and People, respectively, but no violence was mentioned in either account. Hilton has not publicly accused anyone of hurting her, but friends speaking on her behalf — and on the condition of anonymity — told the New York Post and the New York Daily News that the hotel heiress suffered abuse at the hands of Carter before this alleged instance as well as after the couple met up last week in Los Angeles. Carter's attorney Marty Singer said his client did meet up with his ex-girlfriend, and that she even went home with him. But, Singer claims, Hilton is upset about what Carter said to People magazine and could be seeking retaliation by spreading rumors. Singer said the bruises were caused during an "S&M" photo shoot for Rolling Stone magazine, by a band or a strap around her arm that was too tight. To claim abuse, he said, would be "false and defamatory," and he faulted the Post of shoddy reporting. Singer also represents Britney Spears in her fight with the New York tabloid, which printed a photo of her drinking ginseng and called it booze. "This is a Post tabloid story," Singer said, "and no one is making a claim of abuse. If they do, we'll evaluate our legal options." Sources at Rolling Stone said that Hilton's photo shoot was not "S&M themed," and Hilton's rep concurred, adding that the shoot was held weeks ago, on July 19. It is reported that on Wednesday July 28th Aaron will be filming a concert scene for a movie titled "Pop Star," at the Madrid Theater in Canoga Park CA. Nick will be there too - he has a cameo in the movie. A RESERVATION IS NEEDED for fans who want to be in the audience provided they sign a release to be in the movie. (the old title of the movie was "Downtown"). The plot of the movie is that a pop-star (Aaron) goes to public school and ends up becoming friends with a regular girl who's one of the smartest in the school, and he's looking for someone to help him bring up his grades. The school's most popular girl in school (and her posse) try to break them up, including bringing his old pop-star girlfriend into the mix. The producers have put the word out that they'd like to cast a real pop-starlet to play Carter's old girlfriend in the film. The party's over for Paris Hilton and her Backstreet Boys beau Nick Carter. The couple are no longer together, Hilton's publicist told The Associated Press Friday. The 23-year-old Hilton hotel heiress/reality TV star, and Carter, of the Backstreet Boys, had dated for seven months.
It was Hilton who ended the romantic relationship, said her publicist, Gina Hoffman. "She's concentrating on her work," Hoffman told the AP. Carter, 24, told People magazine Friday that he feels good, despite the break up. "This is the time of my life," he said. "I'm back in the studio ready to go on tour with the guys." He added: "I want to be free to date other people and I got tired of all the rumors" of trouble in their relationship. A new Backstreet Boys album is expected to be released later this year. Hilton will begin shooting in August for her first starring film role in Pledge This, about a college sorority. She's starred for two seasons on Fox's The Simple Life with her friend Nicole Richie.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hotel heiress and reality television star Paris Hilton and recording artist Nick Carter (news) have ended their seven-month romance, their publicists said on Friday.
Hilton's spokeswoman described the breakup as amicable, adding that the celebrity socialite is "busy focusing on her career" in entertainment. In a statement from his own publicist, Carter, a member of the Backstreet Boys (news - web sites), said, "I want to be free to date other people, and I got tired of the rumors surrounding our relationship and the constant on and off status."
The statement said Carter went out and celebrated with his manager and friends on Thursday night immediately after the breakup took place. "This is the prime of my life, I'm back in the studio with the guys (Backstreet Boys) and about to go on tour," Carter said. Their tour is set to begin overseas in September, with a new album due out in the fall. Hilton, co-star of the Fox television hit "The Simple Life" is recording her first album and recently finished work on her feature film debut, a remake of the horror classic "House of Wax," which is due out early next year, her spokeswoman said. She is slated to start shooting her next film, the sorority spoof "Pledge This!" next month. Hilton recently made an altogether different kind of debut with the commercial release of a home video, previously circulated on the Internet, showing her having sex with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
