Subject: Howie Dorough's Honeymoon
Source: ok-magazine.com
Thanks: --
Following a gorgeous December wedding that took months of planning, Howie Dorough and Leigh Boniello needed to unwind. And what better place to do that than the beautiful white beaches of Antigua? The Backstreet Boy and his new bridge jetted off for a four-day island getaway and had the time of their lives. "The beaches had some of the most amazing white sand we have ever seen," Howie tells OK!. "We would have loved to stay longer." Their favorite part of their romantic honeymoon? "We had an amazing candlelit dinner at the beach," Leigh, 33, recalls. "It was a gift from Howie's brother, Johnny. The resort set up a private gazebo with tons of tropical flowers and candles. We had a chance to enjoy our first dinner as a married couple." As for the future, Howie, 34, and Leigh "definitely" plan on having children, but not yet. "Right now, we want to enjoy traveling and being married," Howie says. Click here for pictures.

Subject: Backstreet Boys: An Unbreakable Force
Source: N/A Thanks: Kayla
Artist: Backstreet Boys
Album: Unbreakable
Release Date: October 30, 2007
Label: Jive Records
Tracks to Check Out: “Panic”, “Unsuspecting Sunday Afternoon”, “Treat Me Right.”
Look out for: An interesting mix of classic and new.
Artist Website: backstreetboys.com
It's been ten years since "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) hit U.S. airwaves, and the faces of a new generation of heartthrobs took over MTV. The music scene changed with the Backstreet Boys leading a pack of "boy bands" into the new millennium. Once again, music has evolved, and album sales continue to decrease. Boy bands are no more, but hip-hop, punk, and country are strong in the game. The only remnants of that past wave of pop is laced over with heavy dance/R&B/Hip-Hop via Justin Timberlake, and Mission: Man Band, a failing reality series of mix-matched has-beens called Sure Shot, is a sure flop. With the dust settling over the years, the Backstreet Boys remain on top of their game still. Since the deflation of pop music in 2002, which is credited to squeaky-clean images gone bad, mixed with the inability to stick together, the Backstreet Boys have managed to keep the ball rolling. "We’ve always stressed quality versus quantity when it comes to our career," Brian Littrell, 32, explains in a recent press conference. "I think that’s what it's attributed to, the music, and the loyal fans that we’ve had, and also the passion that we all have. The Backstreet Boys has never been about one particular guy. It’s always about a team. I think that’s what’s kept us together for this long."

Subject: Boys changing it up
Source: hurricaneonline.com
Thanks: Kate
This may not be the case for the Backstreet Boys, who seem to be taking a different, more mature approach to their re-emergence on the music scene. Having made several forays back onto the charts since the five officially split in 2001, the Backstreet Boys are not looking to be the same band they were way back when, for better or for worse. The boys have spent over a year in the studio trying to produce an album that will please their established fan base and appeal to a new audience. This is likely to be a shrewd approach, one made successful by the band Take, one of the first British boy bands who made a comeback this year. If the Backstreet Boys can learn how to target the new demands of its maturing fan base they is likely to be successful. They should take a leaf from artists such as Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake who, having entered the charts as pop sensations, are now on top of their game as ruling R&B hitmakers

Subject: Never say never
Source: citynews.ca
Thanks: Kayla
Kevin Richardson disappointed fans when he left The Backstreet Boys. He said he would never return. Kevin dropped by this morning (dressed in a black turtle-neck and black jacket) to talk about his stage roll in Chicago (currently at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto). Dina pushed him on his "never" statement about returning to the BSB. Well...Kevin revealed that he might be re-thinking things. He says he and his wife are going to be trying to have a baby (they may even start trying here in Toronto---she is coming to join him here). He then says he may consider going back to the Backstreet Boys in the future. "Never say never," he tells Dina.

Subject: Backstreet Boy A.J. McLean Takes a Detour
Source: aolmusicnewsblog.com
Thanks: Kayla
The Backstreet Boys, now a quartet after the departure of Kevin Richardson, are at work on a new album. That's not the only thing keeping A.J. McLean busy: He's also in the midst of his first solo album. "I've pretty much written everything on the record with these guys, and I've learned a lot about myself through this whole process," he tells AOL Music. Such as? "I've learned that I've got an angry side, a frustrated side, a happy side. I've learned that there was some unfinished business in things that I didn't get to settle with people like my father," he says. "There's a song entitled 'Sincerely Yours,' which is about my father. There are songs about past relationships, things that piss me off and then there are songs that just make you want to get up and dance. It's all real music. It's not like, 'Hey, you have a nice car. Let me see you shake your ass.'" Among the people McLean is writing with on the album is friend Dan Muckala, who wrote the Backstreet hit 'Incomplete.' When Muckala was recently honored at Nashville's Belmont University, McLean got a chance to perform some of the new material live. "We did three of the songs, and it was a great response," he says. "If the college crowd digs it, I'm loving it. Hopefully next year there will be touring, records -- all kinds of stuff."

Backstreet's back ... almost. Backstreet Boys fans will have to wait just a little longer before they can get their hands on the band's new CD, according to A.J. McLean. "The boys and I are finishing up the new record, coming out at the top of the year," McLean revealed to MTV News at the Moto 8 party Thursday night in Hollywood. "We're about three-quarters of the way through. We just got new mixes, we're just kind of going through the top eight [songs] we have right now, and getting the mix [done] properly. But everyone's really stoked about it. The songs are great, man." Additionally, McLean has spent the last six months working on another solo record. "It's a lot of personal stuff," McLean explained. "Like, my relationship with my father that I don't really have. There's a song about him called 'Sincerely Yours.' There's a lot of songs on the record that are just me expressing who I am and letting everyone know I am my own person outside of Backstreet Boys." Whether McLean resurrects his Johnny No Name alter ego remains to be seen.

Subject: Brian shares BSB and solo news
Source: --
Thanks: Kayla
Brian appeared at Revelation Generation yesterday, but because of the heavy rain he was unable to perform. Nevertheless, some fans got to spend some time with him and he revealed some interesting things about what's going on with him solo-wise and updates us on what's next for BSB:
- BSB have only recorded 7 songs so far. The new sound will be a mix of Never Gone with their older stuff. (More guitar driven with a Euro dance feel).
- The BSB club tour is not going ahead. They didn't feel right touring when they don't have a lot of new material to share live.
- The boys are not worrying too much about not having a bass vocal. Brian said that he, Nick and AJ can all sing bass so they would take it in turns.
- The boys are meeting in LA again in a week and a half to start recording. Brian is very excited.
- Brian's next single will be 'Wish.'
- The single after that might be a slightly faster version of 'Over My Head,' Brian's hoping that it will be released to more mainstream radio.

Subject: Pop star Littrell will sing at memorial
Source: kentucky.com
Thanks: Kayla
Lexington native and pop music superstar Brian Littrell will participate in the citywide memorial service Sunday at Rupp Arena for victims of the crash of Comair Flight 5191. Littrell was part of the Backstreet Boys, the chart-topping vocal quintet. Sarah Darnall, an organizer of the memorial who works in Mayor Teresa Isaac's office, says Littrell was "eager to participate." Flight 5191 crashed during takeoff early on the morning of Aug. 27, killing 49 people. Littrell grew up in Lexington and graduated from Tates Creek High School. He now lives in Atlanta with his wife, Leighanne, and their 3-year-old son, Baylee. Earlier this year, Littrell embarked on a solo career in the contemporary Christian music market with his debut album, Welcome Home. Among the album's faith-based tracks was Gone Without Goodbye, a song about people who lost loved ones in tragedy. It opens with a verse about a woman and her daughter-in-law looking for a victim of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. On Sunday, Littrell will sing toward the end of the service. Darnall said organizers do not know what he will be singing, yet. She did ask that Littrell's fans remember Sunday's event will be a memorial service -- not a place for screaming fans or autograph-seekers. "This is a memorial service for the victims," Darnall said. "It is our time to mourn and grieve. Mr. Littrell wants to be a part of that, but it is not a concert. "Please respect the families of the victims, who will be there."

BACKSTREET BOYS star NICK CARTER insists the pioneering boy band will not be splitting up, despite singer KEVIN RICHARDSON's decision to quit. And the blonde pop pin-up insists Richardson's departure might not be permanent - and he'll always be welcomed back with open arms. He tells MTV News, "All we can do is be supportive in any decisions that any of us make. "We still want to be able to do records and there are fans out there that want to hear our music, and we're going to push on. But the door is always open for him. If he wants to come back to perform again, he can. We respect his decision." Carter also revealed that the next Backstreet Boys album could feature a solo track from each of the four remaining bandmates. He adds, "Times have changed, and we're trying to adapt and trying to get a grip on things. We love what we do, we love the music we've done, and obviously we're still going with it and still moving on."

Having heard some of the tracks I can safely say that you are all in for a wonderful record. The tour show will be unusual because I think each of them is going to showcase some of their solo work this time around. WOW that will be cool!! I know I am looking forward to that.

Source: mtv.com

Following the departure of Kevin Richardson over the weekend, the Backstreet Boys are plowing ahead with sessions for their upcoming album, which member Brian Littrell says they hope to have out later this year. "[The sessions] started yesterday, actually," Littrell said on Monday, less than 48 hours after the group announced that original member Richardson, 33, was leaving to pursue unspecified "other interests" (see "Kevin Richardson Quits Backstreet Boys"). Littrell said he and the group's other members — Howie Dorough, Nick Carter and A.J. McLean — began work on the first two songs for the yet-untitled follow-up to last year's Never Gone. "We're in the process of trying to put this record together for a fourth-quarter release, so we're excited about it." Littrell said the Boys started talking about heading right back into the studio about midway through the Never Gone tour, which ended earlier this year. "The Backstreet Boys audience has been loyal and continued to support us as a group and we're very appreciative of that," he said. "During the middle of the tour we were talking about getting back in the studio and making another record and not having another four-year downtime between CDs. "I was the first one in the studio just yesterday, actually," he continued, "working on Sunday, trying to get my vocals in, because in two days I have to head to Montreal and Toronto and start press and promotion for the Canadian campaign for my solo CD." Littrell issued a Christian-music album, Welcome Home, in early May. Despite his excitement over getting to work on the Boys' seventh album, Littrell said the departure of his cousin Richardson is taking its toll. "Personally, Kevin is my blood," he said. "Kevin got me in the group almost 14 years ago. I'm a little sad to see him leave, and I'm sure some of the fans are a little sad. But I'm very happy for him and very supportive of him personally and businesswise and I hope he's successful in any endeavor that he plans on moving forward with his life." Richardson, 34, hasn't spoken about the other endeavors he wants to pursue outside the multiplatinum group, and Littrell didn't shed much light on what the future holds for his cousin, either. "During the Never Gone tour Kevin had kind of relayed his personal thoughts and his individual aspirations, personally and businesswise, things that he wants to further accomplish in his life," Littrell explained. "And he's the oldest member of the group and he's just at a different place in his life. There is no bad blood whatsoever."

Hey everybody, sorry it has been so long since I've updated you. I've been very busy. I know there are alot of rumors floating around about my status with BSB. After thirteen years of what can only be described as a dream come true, I have decided to leave the Backstreet Boys. It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order for me to move on with the next chapter of my life. Howard, Brian, Alex, and Nick will always be my little brothers and will continue to have my utmost love and support. I want to thank you all for the beautiful memories we have shared together and look forward to including you in the next phase of my life. I wish my brothers continued success and look forward to their new album. Peace and love, Kevin Richardson.

Earlier this year, after much soul searching, Kevin Richardson came to us and told us that he had decided to leave the group and pursue other interests. He gave his blessing to continue the music without him. We have no intention of replacing Kevin, and the door will always be open for him to return to the Backstreet Boys. We wish him the all the best in his future endeavors. This weekend we are returning to the studio to begin the follow-up to Never Gone, and will see you later this year with a new album.” - Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean.

The Backstreet Boys are saying goodbye to the oldest member of their band, according to a statement posted on the group's Web site Saturday. Kevin Richardson, 33, said he was leaving to purse other interests. "It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life," Richardson said in the statement. The Orlando-based pop band ushered in a new teen-music craze in the late 90's, buoyed by their soulful harmonies, synchronized dance steps, clean-cut good looks and charm. Their three albums sold a total of more than 35 million copies. The group took a hiatus in 2001 after A.J. McLean's highly publicized entry into rehab forced the band to postpone their "Black & Blue" tour. They reunited to release the album "Never Gone" in 2005. The remaining members, McLean, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, and Brian Littrell, said they had no plans to replace Richardson. "The door will always be open for him to return to the Backstreet Boys. We wish him the all the best in his future endeavors," they said on the band's Web site. The group plans to return to the studio this weekend to begin work on their next album, which is due later this year. Calls and an e-mail sent to the group's publicist, Sonia Muckle, were not immediately returned to The Associated Press on Saturday.

Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys was gracious with the press, friendly to the fans on the red carpet, and a polite professional backstage at Much Music Awards 2006. The up-and-comers could learn a lot from this music business veteran. Unlike last year, the Backstreet Boys' Howie D. was not in the running for an award -- nor was he there for anything Backstreet-related. He was escorting someone named George, a new artist apparently co-managed by the Backstreet Boy. That didn't stop the girls' screams for Howie to wave at them, though. "I feel blessed to still be recognized," he said.

The Backstreet Boys plan to record another album this summer. In an interview with andPOP's Sarah Millar, Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell revealed that the boys have been talking about their next album and hope to return the studio as soon as June. "There are tentative plans to be in the studio at the end of June but we're still working on that (and) with material and the direction of the record," Littrell told andPOP. "I've had a few conference calls with everyone talking about the end of June meeting in LA. We do plan to be in the studio probably the majority of July and maybe part of August. We're moving forward together." The Backstreet Boys released "Never Gone" last year, after four years without new material. "The record was recorded amazingly," he said. "We didn't know what to expect coming out with a new album after 13 years (together). But it was just embraced and loved by the fans."

Subject: BSB's Brian Littrell Releases Debut Christian Album
Source: Crimson Light
Thanks: Kayla
Project follows impact of No. 1 single “In Christ Alone." Brian Littrell, one of pop’s most recognized and bestselling artists, is set to release this spring his debut Christian-market album Welcome Home. In conjunction with Jive Records, the Reunion Records project arrives on the heels of last summer’s No. 1 Christian radio single, Littrell’s remake of “In Christ Alone,” a Dove-nominated track off WOW #1s. The first single from Welcome Home will be its title track, which goes for adds on Friday, March 17. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a little boy singing in church in Lexington, Kentucky,” said Littrell, who grew up singing in various youth choirs at Port Memorial Baptist Church. With Welcome Home, “I hope to encourage people to stand up for what they believe.” Terry Hemmings, President and CEO of Provident Music Group, called Littrell’s signing—three years in the making—“one of the most unique partnerships ever to happen in Christian music.” Hemmings continued, “Throughout the course of making the deal I got to know Brian as a forthright, sincere person of God. This is what Brian was built to do. His enthusiasm for the record just oozes out of him.”
"I’ve been writing Christian music for a long time,” Littrell said, “and now I have the opportunity to share some of those songs with others. I’m a family guy making music for the family. This really is like a dream come true.” Plans are coming together for Littrell to support Welcome Home at select Christian music festivals this summer. Brian Littrell is widely-known as a 13-year member of the legendary pop group Backstreet Boys. He has contributed to worldwide sales in excess of 75 million records and has amassed legions of fans around the globe. Last summer, Backstreet Boys released Never Gone, their first studio album in five years. Brian lives in Atlanta with his wife Leighanne and their three-year-old son Baylee. Littrell will continue to perform with Backstreet Boys and looks forward to sharing his solo album with fans.

Melissa Vickrey loves all the Backstreet Boys, but her favorite member is AJ McLean. Melissa had the chance to meet AJ and the four other members of the group through Kids Wish Network, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories and improving the quality of life for children. Melissa was born with Vaters Syndrome, which is characterized by a number of serious medical problems including excess fluid on the brain and being prone to seizures. Her cognitive level is that of an 8- or 9- year-old. Melissa is 16 years old and lives in Portage with her parents, Mildred and Ezra Vickrey. Mildred Vickrey's oldest daughter saw an ad in a magazine about the Kids Wish Network and the family submitted Melissa's name and began the application process. Melissa's mother said Melissa had no problem making her wish. "She knew what she wanted and didn't hesitate," Milred Vickrey said. "She loves the Backstreet Boys and couldn't wait to meet them." Melissa and her family stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago and went to the Chicago Theater to see the Backstreet Boys in concert. Before the concert began Melissa was able to meet and greet the band. The five members of the group not only presented her with gifts but spent time chatting and taking pictures with her. Melissa's mom said she was absolutely thrilled. "She was just so tickled," Mildred Vickrey said. "And AJ is her absolute favorite. She was so wrapped up in him." Vickrey said the guys spent quite a bit of time with Melissa and were sweet to her. Since she has returned home, Melissa constantly shows pictures of her trip to friends and family and keeps the CD the group made for her with her at all times. Mildred Vickrey said the family is so grateful to Kids Wish Network and its wish coordinator Madeline Robinson. "When she was a baby we weren't given much hope that she would even walk, but we spent a lot of time with her and have taken so much care with her," Mildred said. "She is definitely a people person and has come a long way. She will remember this trip forever." If someone knows a child between the ages of 3 and 18 who may be in need of its wish granting service, call (888) 918-9004.

Kevin: I've always been in love with the same woman, my wife. For me love is honesty and respect, I think it's what keeps us together. When you get married, the feeling changes, it's not the same as when you're just her boyfriend; so to me it's important to find the way of not falling in monotony, I like surprising her with trips.

The heady pinnacle of the teen-pop explosion five years ago casts a long shadow in the pop world. 'N Sync, though long gone from the charts and arena stages, still holds the record for combined concert and album sales revenue since Calendar began compiling the list in 1997. N Sync racked up a whopping $212.9 million in 2000 and finished in the Ultimate Top 10 for four consecutive years, taking No. 1 honors twice. So it's no surprise that the youth-pop sensation has generated the most money on that list over its nine-year existence: $529.6 million. Additionally, 'N Sync's peers landed two more spots on the overall Top 10 list. At No. 2: Backstreet Boys, with $520.5 million. Neither the group's 2005 reunion tour nor its album ("Never Gone") made a big impression on year-end rankings, but they added enough to the group's 1998-2001 take to push it ahead of Céline Dion for runner-up honors. Dion's $517.3 million makes her the only other act to crack $500 million. The rest of the Ultimate Top 10 finishers through the years: Dave Matthews Band ($408.5 million), U2 ($376.4 million), the Rolling Stones ($375.4 million), Britney Spears ($346.7 million), Eminem ($333.2 million), the Dixie Chicks ($283.6 million) and Shania Twain ($282.8 million).

Retiring diva Cher earmarked all the profits from her concerts in January for tsunami charities, and The Black Eyed Peas toured Indonesia's devastated Banda Ache region before performing at a fundraising concert in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur alongside Lauryn Hill, Backstreet Boys and Wyclef Jean. APRIL - Rehabilitation continued as a theme in April - Billy Joel finished a stint in a treatment centre for alcohol dependency and declared himself fit and healthy. Meanwhile, Aaron Carter's mother begged him to check into rehab to kick his drug problems. April proved to be a trying time for the Carter family because Backstreet Boys singer Nick pleaded not guilty to two drink driving charges on 13 April and had his license revoked. MAY - Reformed boyband Backstreet Boys began the lone European date of their comeback tour on 30 May by running over a fan at Dusseldorf airport in Germany. Julia Wagner suffered a fractured leg as the group's bus edged through crowds. The five-piece made up for Wagner's injury by making her guest of honour at the show in Cologne the following night.

Subject: Backstreet Boys visit the Texas Children's Hospital
Source: maturefanclub.com
Thanks: Tamu
Click to enlarge The Backstreet Boys were in Houston for Jingle Jam and it was arranged for them to visit Texas Children's Hospital. They were slated to be at the hospital for 1 1/2 hours but stayed for 3 hours and were just fantastic. They visited with 10 children who had illnesses ranging from bone infection, to needing heart transplants, cancer and those that had had heart surgery. The Boys were so wonderful to each of the patients and gave each of them special time with pictures, autographs and in EVERY room sang an a capella version of one of their songs. (Safest Place to Hide, I Want it That Way, I'll Never Break Your Heart (in Spanish for a patient and her family from Mexico), All I Have to Give, I can't remember them all!) At Texas Children's, we have a radio station that broadcasts throughout the hospital. On Thursday night, we had a contest to find the fans who would get a visit from the Backstreet Boys. They had to answer trivia questions about the Boys and they won a CD. The patients thought on Saturday they would be getting their pictures taken with the CD. Little did they know that the Boys themselves would be taking the pictures with them. They kids were just SOOO excited when the Boys showed up and the Boys were wonderful with them. I cannot describe how wonderful they are. They spent so much time, were so genuine, and really seemed to be touched by our kids. It brought tears to my eyes each time they broke out in song for these kids. They were also so kind to other kids who saw them in the hallway (and the nurses who wanted to get their pics with them, too). At the end of the tour, they went to our Radio Lollipop for an interview with some DJs from the station hosting Jingle Jam and sang I Want it That Way again (Nick sang... "I want it Brian's way"). These clips and other clips should be up on the KRBE website. I was very fortunate to get to ride over in the car with the Boys to the hospital prior to the visit. I gave them some stats on the hospital and the patients they would be meeting with on Saturday. To my surprise, Brian quoted those statistics at the concert on Saturday night. We do have one of the leading pediatric cardiovascular surgery departments in the world, so Brian was particularly interested in that. It was such an amazing day for all the kids. And Kevin talked about how blessed he/they were to have visited the children. They were just so good to all our kids. As soon as we have pictures I can link to, I'll post the link. The Boys' photographer, Andre Csillag, was with us and he is supposed to be emailing us the pics. Also our Texas Children's photographer took some pics as well. What an amazing Christmas present to all our kids.

Usually when I go home for Thanksgiving my high-school friends and I get together for a mini-reunion. But this time, it was only me and two other people—seems everyone's starting to celebrate with their adult friends. But we made the most of it and ended up at the local pool hall. This pool hall is wonderful, populated as it is by old men that look like they chain-smoke 24 hours a day and the kind of teenagers who started smoking and having facial hair and boobs before everyone else, all squeezed into a walled-off smoking room that, inexplicably, has decals of Shrek the ogre and Nemo the fish on the windows. It also pipes in music that's essentially Radio Disney without the annoying DJ chatter and commercials, and at one point, it played the Backstreet Boys' "Incomplete." Now, obviously this made me very happy, but what I began to realize was that during the chorus, other people in the pool hall were singing along. They weren't singing the whole thing, and they definitely weren't singing very loud. But they were singing, almost involuntarily, and without any particular embarrassment. And if this song can make teenage hoodlums and weather-beaten old men sing along to the Backstreet Boys, who are you to resist its charms? -- Mike Barthel

They've never really gone, really. And for those who didn't get enough of the Backstreet Boys' appearance earlier this year at the Force of Nature concert then you'll be glad that the quintet's Never Gone Tour hits Asia in January. That's the good news. The bad news is that Malaysia has, once again, been sidelined for whatever reason. The nearest cities to us that the boys are appearing at are north in Bangkok, and south in Singapore. Other cities on the mega list include Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai and Manila (makes us feel a little left out doesn't it?) The best date for us to pencil in would be Jan 24 for the Singapore show, brought in by LAMC Productions, and to be staged at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Without a doubt, the Backstreet Boys is one of the most widely accepted of boy bands, with millions of fans from all corners of the world. The quintet's sixth studio album Never Gone, released in the middle of this year, comes nearly five years after their last studio album, and reflects the adult ideals of a quintet that broke music and concert sales records the world over, moving more than 80 million albums since coming into the fray in 1997. As teen idols, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, sold more than 13 million copies each of their first two US albums, Backstreet Boys (1997) and the No. 1 (in 25 nations) Millennium (1999). Black and Blue followed (2000), moving eight million copies, and then Hits: Chapter One (2001). Never Gone, which the boys spent more than a year recording, moves beyond pop idol notoriety to reflect what is happening in the group's lives and in the world. Ticket prices for the group's Singapore concert are S$162 (RM366), S$127 (RM287), S$97 (RM220) and S$72 (RM163). Tickets go on sale on Thursday at all Sistic outlets. Visit www.sistic.com.sg, or call the hotline 02-63485555. Bookings in Kuala Lumpur can be made via Holiday Tours & Travel, Sentral Station in Kuala Lumpur (03-22732200).

Subject: Backstreet Boys coming for show
Source: philstar.com

Philippines - They’ve been here a few years ago when they were not yet popular. And soon (on Jan. 20 next year), the Backstreet Boys (BSB) are coming back not for an album promo like before but for a major show at the Araneta Coliseum, to be produced by Viva Concerts and Events. Since the group’s introduction in 1997, the Boys – Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean and Brian Littrell – have become most sought-after. The group has made its immense impact on pop culture with unforgettable hits like its debut platinum single Quit Playing Games (With My Heart), All I Have To Give and I Want It That Way. They have scored a total of 12 top 40 hits, eight of which reached the Top 10. The BSB has sold more than 13 million copies each of its first two US albums, Backstreet Boys (1997) and Millennium (1999). Black and Blue sold more than eight million copies and its 2001 record Hits: Chapter One reached the platinum mark. The Boys' latest offering, Never Gone, was released a few months ago. The title of the album eloquently speaks of the BSB. No, they're never gone and never will be.

Backstreet Boys made a stunning (global) return earlier this year with the lush "Incomplete." All signals were go, but then radio missed out on uptempo follow-up "Just Want You to Know." Jive is striving to score again with third single "Crawling Back to You," another smart, melodic ballad that should meet favor with the group's maturing base, as well as fans of well-crafted songs at adult top 40. Perhaps midtempo pop stunner "Climbing the Walls" or critics' favorite "Poster Girl" might have been better choices, but let's hope programmers have weighed in favorably on "Crawling." There are plenty of hits left on current disc "Never Gone," but BSB's return to glory has little room for error, amid the novelty acts continually hogging the airwaves. This song has solid catalog potential. Does "My Humps"? — Chuck Taylor

Subject: Hurricane Katrina/Tsunami Relief Benefit Project
Source: cometogethernowonline.com
Thanks: Samantha
The song, "Come Together Now", written by Sharon Stone, Damon Sharpe, MarkFeist, and Denise Rich, was inspired by the magnitude of human suffering and tragedy that touched so many lives after the tsunami disaster last December. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina we will now use this song as a combined effort to raise funds for the two global tragedies. The following artists have participated: Celine Dion, The Game, Joss Stone, John Legend, Wyclef Jean, Mya, JoJo, Rueben Studdard, Patti Labelle, Gavin Degraw, Anthony Hamilton, Natalie Cole, Stacie Orrico, Kelly Price, Chingy, Jesse Macartney, Nick Carter & AJ McLean of The Backstreet Boys, Aaron Carter, Anthony Hamilton, Angie Stone, Lee Ryan and Glenn Lewis. The track was being produced by Mark J. Feist and Damon Sharpe (Destiny's Child, Jennifer Lopez, Mya.) Top musicians have offered their time to play on the track: Steve Lukather on guitar, Abe Laborial, Jr. on drums and Greg Phillinganes on acoustic grand piano. The strings were arranged and conducted by Bill Meyers, whose credits include Destiny's Child, Brian McKnight, Madonna, and Earth Wind and Fire. The song was mixed by legendary mix engineer Jon Gass. All proceeds from the song will benefit Hurricane Katrina/Tsunami relief. Rebuilding the damage is a journey that will take a long time and our intent is to establish revenue that will continue past the release of the single. We have documented all the stages of production for the music video and a making of DVD that will also be sold and given to the Charity. Both will be directed by music video and feature film director Bille Woodruff.

Subject: The Backstreet Boys are coming to Australia
Source: theage.com
Thanks: Angela
Australians may get a boy band fix early next year, with American pop group Backstreet Boys likely to venture Down Under on their first concert tour. After a five-year break, the boys are back "stronger than ever", says band member Howie Dorough. "We are in the midst of trying to fit Australia into the schedule after we go to Japan in January," Howie said from the United States today. "So probably end of January, early February." The Backstreet Boys - Nick Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrel and Howie Dorough - have visited Australia for a brief promotional tour but never performed any live concert dates here. "We have performed promotion and press but we have never been able to fit it into the schedule," Howie said. The boy group have sold more than 73 million albums worldwide with hits including I Want it That Way, Everybody, As Long As You Love Me and Quit Playing Games. The group took an indefinite break in 2001 because of a number of reasons, Howie said. "We are well rested and I think we appreciate each other a lot more now than we did in the past," Howie said."We got a little too comfortable and we got a little burnt out. "We had so much negativity between AJ going into rehab, 9/11 happening which one of our crew members died in and between us having turmoil with our management." Backstreet Boys this year released a new studio album, Never Gone, and have embarked on an international tour. They are currently touring Canada and plan to perform their first concert tour in Australia next year. "We have put together a great show which has pretty much all of the greatest hits plus about nine songs of new stuff," he said. "We are very excited about it. We have put together a great show that we all feel very proud of and we are just going to rock it as long as we can."

Subject: Why MTV's TRL won't play JWYTK
Source: Leighanne Littrell
Thanks: littrellfans.net
The following email was sent to LittrellFans.net by Leighanne Littrell, Brian's wife. It explains why even though fans are voting like crazy JWYTK hasn't made into the TRL countdown yet.
"At present time MTV states they do not want to play BSB's music because they do not want pop music to make a comeback. Their quote is that they don't want to open Pandora's Box. Anything the fans could do to support the boys and not to give MTV the power to decide that what the world should and should not hear. This is the second time MTV has tried to hold down the BSB from becoming the best that they can be. If there is anything you can do to help, it would be greatly appreciated."
Johnny Wright and Nick have been asking fans to vote for the video during their shows, but Kevin seemed mad at the Chicago soundcheck and said MTV would never play it.This isn't the first time MTV hasn't been very professional regarding the Boys, which is a shame considering the big part they played on the network, especially on TRL.

The Backstreet Boys have gone back in time for their latest music video to portray a fictional 1985 rock band called SPHYNKTER. Embracing much of the faded fashions of the vintage decade, Kein Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean and Brian Littrell are seen donning mullets, thick moustaches and headbands as they play both the rockers and their fans in the clip accompanying their new single, "Just Want You To Know". Richardson, who came up with the treatment for the video, tells MTV News, "This is an homage to the rock bands of the '80s and the culture that surrounded it. "We had a blast. We wanted to do something different. We've done the beefcake videos, we've done the dark, mysterious videos, we've done the performance videos. We wanted to do something fun and crazy and we had a great time. "We all love playing characters and it was a great opportunity for us to just have a blast and do something crazy." Richardson is particularly proud of his "heavy make out kinda white trash" scene where he's shown kissing a female reveller with alarming passion.

Subject: Billboard reviews JWYTK as global smash
Source: billboard.com
Thanks: Samantha
Who would have expected the Backstreet Boys to score a full-blown comeback with "Incomplete" — not just a polite return, but a second swipe at world domination. And with a ballad, at that. "Just Want You to Know," the second single from the wholly satisfying platinum set "Never Gone," only tops the sundae with a cherry. It is an uptempo song in much the same vein as Kelly Clarkson's pop/rock anthem "Since U Been Gone," with flypaper hooks from enduring musical maestro Max Martin. This guitar-octane perspirer proves that BSB has plenty of ammunition left in its arsenal. In a word: hit. In two words: global smash. — Chuck Taylor

Hootie & the Blowfish debut at Adult Top 40 at No. 35 with "One Love" (Vanguard), their 12th charting single at the format. That places the act in a tie with Dave Matthews Band, Matchbox Twenty and Backstreet Boys for the most charted singles at the format by a group. The four acts trail Sheryl Crow (15), Madonna (14) and Alanis Morissette (13) for the lead among all artists. Backstreet Boys have done a bit better at Mainstream Top 40 as their title count on that list improves to 16 with the debut of "Just Want You to Know" (Zomba) at No. 38. They hold the lead for most chart appearances by a group at that format and are now in a three-way tie for fourth overall with Nelly and Britney Spears. Only Madonna (24), Mariah Carey (23) and Janet Jackson (21) have had more Mainstream Top 40 hits. "Know" is the Boys' ninth chart appearance this decade, which ties them with Destiny's Child as the group with the most charted singles in the 2000s.

Source: music.yahoo.com

Backstreet Boys' band member AJ McLean thinks that their new album, Never Gone, is different from much of today's music, because it's appropriate for fans of all ages. AJ says: "This is music for the masses. This is something that can bring people together. They can all sit with their family and enjoy a good quality record. This is not a record that parents feel they have to be cautious or wary of their kids listening to or that it might be a bad influence on people. We always try to strive on doing positive music and if you listen to what's on the radio nowadays it's pretty much about how much money you got or how many cars you got or how much jewelry you got or even how many times you've been shot." Never Gone did well in its international debut this week. The album is Number One in Germany, India, Korea and on Japan's International Chart. It's also Number Two in Canada, Mexico, Spain, and on the Pan-European Billboard chart. The album debuted two weeks ago at Number Three on the Billboard 200 albums chart and now sits at Number Seven. Backstreet Boys will be touring in support of Never Gone this summer. The tour begins on July 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida. Following the U.S. tour, the group will embark on international dates, taking them through Europe, Asia and South America.

They've silenced the doubters; Backstreet's well and truly back! With an already Gold comeback album in the UK, 2 sold out dates at Wembley in October (the second added due to public demand), and a single set to go straight in the top ten this week, the biggest selling boyband of all time are showing them all how its done! And now they are announcing the second single to be taken from "Never Gone". Just Want You To Know is a midtempo number with the type of killer chorus that the 'boys' have become famous for. Written and produced by their old cohort Max Martin, it's a piece of quality Pop with rocky edge! Just Want You To Know will be released on September 26th, just before the sold out UK dates.

Set to tour behind their first album in four years, Never Gone, the Backstreet Boys are planning to do something kind of radical for a boy band: scale back the production."There was a time when there were a lot of groups like us -- you had the Britneys, you had the 'N Syncs, us, 98 Degrees -- and the objective was to blow up as many things as you could onstage," says Brian Littrell. "But this tour, it's going to be about the music. The fans are going to see us five -- there won't be twenty-five dancers." The five -- Littrell, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean and Nick Carter -- will perform ten songs off Never Gone, as well as their entire Chapter 1 greatest hits compilation. That's not to say there'll be no frills. "We might have a little bit of pyro here and there," says Littrell. "And we're going to break out the sequin blazers," Richardson jokes. The Backstreet Boys' North American dates kick off in their native Florida on July 22nd, and will be followed by a European tour.

For the eighth time in the last nine weeks, a rock album has chimed in at the top of the charts. This week, two did. Coldplay again clutched the No. 1 spot with "X&Y," following up its blockbuster opening week of nearly three-quarters of a million copies. But this time the group was given mighty chase by the Foo Fighters' latest CD, "In Your Honor." Coldplay moved 322,990 to the Foos' almost winning figure of 310,585. Breathing down both their necks was the Backstreet Boys' "comeback" CD, "Never Gone." It bagged the No. 3 slot with sales of 290,946. That's a solid number for a group that had taken a five-year hiatus - long enough for many of their pink-cheeked fans to outgrow them. The photogenic fivesome's last CD, 2000's "Black & Blue," moved 1.6 million copies in its first week, and went on to push a hefty 5.4 million platters altogether. Yet those towering figures came way back during the height of boy-band mania. The Boys' latest single, "Incomplete," has managed to go top 10 in Pop Radio and top 25 in Mainstream Adult formats, connecting them to the older audience they now need to survive. The group has also done as much TV promotion as in their prime, making key appearances on the "Today" show, "The Tonight Show" and "The View.

The Backstreet Boys have proved their enduring relevance in Australia, with their new single 'Incomplete' debuting at an immense No 1, five years after their last release here. It's been said a lot lately, but it's oh-so true - Backstreet's back! Incomplete has been taking the world by storm as an out-of-the-box hit, rocketing straight to a No 1 Most Added track at Australian radio in its first week, then following that up by smashing into the ARIA singles chart for a No 1 debut. The single has achieved huge results internationally too, hitting the Top 10 in the US, No 1 in Brazil, No 2 in Italy and No 3 in Germany, Denmark and Switzerland. It's the first single from the Backstreet Boys' much anticipated new album, 'Never Gone', which is in stores this Sunday. The fourth studio release from the guys since their debut in 1997, it's been a long time coming, but it's definitely been worth the wait! Never Gone is the first studio album from the Backstreet Boys in almost five years, but today, nearly a decade since their initial success - and following a healthy three-year breather - the boys admit that they needed time to catch up, grow up and gain some perspective on the whirlwind of fame. Having sold 73 million albums, they're one of the most successful all male vocal pop groups ever, so it's easy to see why a bit of time off was necessary! Luckily for us, they're back on track, and have an amazing new album to drive that point home. Featuring their trademark vocal harmonies but with a freshness that pushes them to the top of the pop table, the Backstreet Boys' latest album 'Never Gone' proves that timeless melodies and undeniable talent will always endure the test of time.

Next week's sales chart is expected to see the Backstreet Boys doing about 300,000 and the Foo Fighters' "In Your Honor" selling about 50,000 fewer. If seven albums can keep their totals above 100,000, it will be a good omen for the music business.

New albums by Backstreet Boys and Foo Fighters are both on track to start above 250,000 copies, with the former having a genuine shot to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. Based on first-day sales cited by retail chains, chart pundits figure Backstreet's "Never Gone" (Jive/Zomba Label Group) has a shot at touching 300,000 copies in its first week. The group's chances of landing its third No. 1 album depend on how large a second-week decline Coldplay's chart-topping "X&Y" (Capitol) suffers from its opener of 737,000. Of the last six albums to bow at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, the largest second-week dip was 67% for Nine Inch Nails' "With Teeth" (Nothing/Interscope), while the smallest was 42% for Rob Thomas' "...Something To Be." Alisma/Atlantic). Foo's "In Your Honor" (Roswell/RCA) should open in the neighborhood of 260,000-280,000, says a source close to the album. The band's largest prior week was 121,000 for fourth album "One By One" the week that it opened at No. 3 in 2002.

As you know from the article in the Knoxville paper the Backstreet Boys had to cancel their charity appearance in Tennessee last night. The Boys had had a weather delay in NYC and then when the chartered plane took off the runway the cabin lost pressure. The pilot safely landed the airplane but the Boys were unable to get another plane out last night to get to Knoxville. I know that Kevin was personally trying to do everything humanly possible to get to this event. However, these things were outside of any of their control. Just something to think about: The Boys had an angel watching over their shoulders, because had the cabin pressure gone down when the Boys were already in the air, the result would have been the same as what happened to the golfer, Payne Stewart a few years ago, and it would not have been a happy ending. The Boys are very disappointed that they were unable to attend this event because we all know how much charity events mean to the Boys. I, for one, am just grateful that they are safe!

A last minute cancellation Friday from the Backstreet Boys who were coming to East Tennessee. The band was supposed to appear at Jefferson County's Relay for Life around 11 p.m. But, about 30 minutes earlier, they cancelled because the plane they were on was having mechanical problems. The plane's loss of cabin pressure forced everyone off, and the band wasn't going to be able to get a flight to East Tennessee in enough time to attend the Relay. The Backstreet Boys were going to participate in the relay in support of Jefferson County 11 year old Victoria Culpepper, a brain cancer survivor. Fighting against cancer is an issue that's particularly close to the heart of Kevin Richardson, a member of the band. He became an advocate for the early prevention and treatment of colon cancer after his father died of the disease in 1991.

Reunited boy band the Backstreet Boys kick started the lone European date of their comeback tour in unfortunate fashion Monday, by running over a fan at Dusseldorf Airport. The five-piece, Nick Carter, AJ McClean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, jetted into the German city ready for their gig in Cologne Tuesday - their first performance in Germany in five years. But their return ended in pain and a trip to the hospital for 19-year-old fan Julia Wagner - who suffered a fractured leg when she was struck by the band's bus as it fought its way through a huge crowd at the airport. But the band did what they could to make up for the accident - Carter and Richardson visited Wagner in the hospital, where she was treated, and promised to make her a VIP guest at Tuesday's concert. Carter said, "We are so sorry for what happened. We'll make up for it."

Subject: Boys say first single chose them

Lesson #1 in staging a successful comeback: Don't bother choosing the music; let the music choose you. As the Backstreet Boys were busy sifting through dozens of tracks to determine the first single off their forthcoming release, Never Gone, little did they know that the choice had already been made for them. "We were narrowing it down to about two or three songs collectively as a group, and we were talking amongst ourselves about it with our management, and the next thing you know, we're getting news that 'Incomplete' is on the radio and on the Internet," AJ McLean said. Before the mid-tempo power ballad was leaked, the Boys were also considering the fan tribute "I Still" and "Weird World," written by Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik, as their comeback single. But, " 'Incomplete' got such a great response from all the program directors and such a great response from the fans that we told them to just go for it," eldest member Kevin Richardson said. Turns out the Boys made the right move. Since the song officially hit radio on March 18, it has soared to #2 on the iTunes Top 100 and stands at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100. "[The song] has done really well, and we've been very fortunate," McLean added. "We are very, very blessed." The Boys are still in the throes of deciding what their follow-up single will be, although youngest member Nick Carter says they're looking at something mid-to-up-tempo to heat up the radio dials this summer. "We've got about three songs in contention, and we're gonna vote on it. [There's a] democratic process between us and the record company to figure out which one's the best," Richardson said. The Backstreet Boys have been busy touring the country to promote Never Gone, which drops June 14. Earlier this year, the quintet embarked on an intimate club tour, mainly in the eastern states, to showcase the new material. "[For the first time in awhile], we all got back on one bus," Howie Dorough said. "Nick annoyed the heck out of me, but it was good."
"It was great to be onstage again," Richardson said. "We [wanted to do] a small venue tour so we could reconnect with our fans and have an intimate, unplugged-type vibe at the shows, and we had a blast." If you missed the Boys' first outing, don't fret — tour dates for a larger arena trek this summer are expected to be announced next week, according to their publicist.

Subject: A wild Wango Tango
Source: dailybulletin.com

The crowd came in like a flotilla, a mass of fans in tank tops and shorts, slathered in suntan lotion and carrying water bottles, all set for a day in the sun at Anaheim's Angel Stadium. But these fans were drawn Saturday not by baseball but by KIIS-FM's orgy of Top 40 hits known to 50,000 ticketholders as Wango Tango. The eighth-annual event, which kicked off in 80-degree heat with rousing appearances by Latina singer-dancer Natalie, Dallas rocker Ryan Cabrera, and pop-rock quintet Simple Plan, soon developed a party atmosphere and the good-natured audience shared drinks and lined up for nachos at food stands throughout the stadium. Four massive video screens delivered the visuals to fans seated in the highest benches while a top-notch sound system made sure each bass note thundered. Whenever Cabrera and other performers headed for the edge of the stage, screams rang out. BACKSTREET BOYS: A.J., Kevin, Brian, Nick and Howie -- back together as the energetic ensemble plugged cuts from its upcoming record -- drew roars with the hits. Dance steps were as tight as always and the harmonies were equally strong. A sea of cameras pointed toward the stage as females took a break from screaming and clicked a few pix. Again, the ramp got a workout and the Boys kept the fans engaged with hardly a break between songs dedicated to "each and every Backstreeter that came out tonight." Best moments: "Backstreet's Back" and two winning new tunes, "I Still" and "Incomplete."

Subject: Incomplete to be released as a dual disc
Source: musictap.net & Jive Records
Thanks: Emjay & Samantha
It looks like the Backstreet Boys are back on the schedules with a CD and a DualDisc issue coming from Jive Records on June 14. The name of the album is Never Gone. According to Jive, "Never Gone" won't be released as a Dual Disc in Europe, but they plan a special version of the CD with a DVD containing many of the same elements. What is a DualDisc? DualDisc has both a CD player side and a DVD side, allowing artists to create in exciting new ways using audio, video and computer content - all on a single two-sided disc. What is on a DualDisc? One side is the full-length CD audio album. The other side offers DVD content. This may include enhanced album audio, 5.1 surround sound, music videos, artist interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, documentary films, photo galleries, lyrics, computer-ready digital song files, and Web links. It all depends on the artist.
