Backstreet Boys in Seattle, December 4, 2005
by Michelle
We'd heard a mention of where the boys might be staying so we went over and after an hour or so, met with my other friends at the designated spot. The night started off not being too cold... but of course later on it dropped to be about 30 some degrees and lower. We waited for a couple of hours, and we hear some guy mention "Backstreet"... and tell us Hi and then go into the hotel. And sure enough, a little later, Howie shows up. Howie got out of the van and we asked if we could get our pictures taken with him and get autographs. I was gonna stay out of the way because I've gotten my picture and autograph with Howie in the past and a couple of the people we were with have not. I bought all of the Boys gifts and cards so I just wanted to get him my card. Our friend Lindsay that we met while we were up there also had presents for the boys and gave them to Howie...and later on it proved to be a great idea. After getting my card (and dropping it...lol) and taking pics with everyone else that was there, he waved me over for a picture so I ended up getting a picture with him. While he was taking a picture with me, he was telling me it was cold up here especially since he came up from Florida. Also, while we were taking pics, the paparazzi showed out of NOWHERE. They appeared like frickin ninjas. It was creepy as hell. One of them was even dumb enough to get a pic of me instead of Howie. After that, we thanked him and he went inside to check in.
The next morning, we went back to the hotel to have some breakfast. After breakfast we waited in the lobby quietly wondering if anything was going to happen. A couple of us went to another location while I checked into the hotel we were staying at and then went back down into the lobby. Earlier on that day, I had to go back down to Federal Way to pick up my friend Jen (I'll refer to her as Nen because we were with another friend named Jen) who I was going to the concert with as well. We were sitting in the lobby getting very tired and we had lost all hope of seeing any of the other boys (we had seen Howie twice the night before and once in the morning. We saw Howie A LOT this whole weekend) because it was getting pretty late. So we were discussing where we should go eat lunch. We were sitting on one of the couches, where I could see the elevators and the front desk and she had her back turned away from them, facing me. All of the sudden, I see Howie and I try to get her to look behind her because she didn't get to meet Howie earlier. But then I randomly hear someone singing softly... by the time she turned around, Howie was gone, but BRIAN was standing in the lobby with his luggage. Lol then I did one of the most stupid things in my life. I have NEVER freaked out in front of the boys, but the sudden excitement and shock of seeing Brian(out of all the boys seeing how I've rarely ever seen him in person other than at concerts), I quickly tried to stand up and ended up stumbling slightly(bad idea to stand up quickly with platform boots...) He then looked over at us and I realized how stupid I must have looked and started cracking up...making him look over at me like I was nuts...(XD) great first impression... and he was down there for a while so I tried to stop laughing as well as recover from my stupidity and go over to him and out of all people, AJ came in as well.... Yeah then I realized I had to call my other friends back so I ended up not going over to them at the time...(not to mention I really still felt pretty dumb for tripping in front of Brian...). So... then came the time we waited... and waited... and waited in the lobby.
The Kiss 106.1 show started around 4pm.... and when 4pm rolled around, none of the boys had come down to leave yet... I'm glad we really didn't care to see anyone else at the show. But a little before 5pm, Brian came back down and so we all asked politely if we could get pics and such. He quickly signed a couple of things and he said he'd be back because he was going to a basketball game(...why he was going to a Sonics game the night of the concert, I don't know...) so we all got confused seeing how the show had already started and he was going to a basketball game. He also asked us to hold onto our gifts until after he came back because he was going to the basketball game. After reassuring us he will be at the show, and chatting with us for a short while, he left with one of the bodyguards and we went back to waiting (and all of the sudden he paparazzi ninja came out of nowhere again). Brian was very sweet and funny the whole time(btw, no Leighanne or Baylee). He said he'd return in about an hour and a half... and sure enough he did. By then, there were other fans outside and when he came back, a couple of them followed him inside and he said that he was going to take pics and autographs with us first because we had been waiting for quite a long time. This time, I didn't trip or do anything else dumb in front of him. We all successfully got our pictures and autographs with him and then he said he had to go get ready for the show (when I took a pic with him, I took I with Leena and he said something about getting two for one... he's a nerd). He asked us if we were going to the show and of course... yes(duh). So he said in a fruity voice that he had to go change for the show and he'd see us later. Actually, I forgot to mention one major thing. When Brian came back, Nick walked in a couple of seconds later... yeah, Brian seems to bring in the other boys that day. Or more so, I didn't even see Nick come in at first, because everyone was busy with Brian. But I heard either someone outside or in the hotel yell "OMG it's nick..." While everyone was busy with Brian, I walked over to Nick and gave him my gift and he headed back up to his room. We then went back to what seemed to be our best talent that day... waiting.
By then we were all rather excited. One of us asked Brian if Kevin was there as well and he told us yes. So we waited some more... In all honesty, I can't even remember who came down in what order... So I'm going by what I have on my camera. I think a little before 7pm, the boys started to come down to leave for the show. I THINK it was Nick who came down first. I just remember that Brian and Howie came down while one or two of the other boys were down... I just can't remember the order anymore. Nick came back down, and he said he has to go somewhere really quick... but he started signing stuff for us. Then someone yelled at him saying something was gonna close in 5 minutes so he says he'll be right back. the boy went to STARBUCKS... the reason I’m a bit amused by this is the gift I had given the boys were Starbucks cards. I work at Starbucks so I just thought it'd be a nice lil gift... He came back with a drink. So most of us got pics with Nick(I didn't at the time because I wanted to make sure everyone else did seeing how I've met Nick multiple times before...) one thing I always remember about Nick... he always smells so nice when I meet him. He was really sweet like every other time I had met him, which was awesome. I made sure that Nen got a pic with Nick because this was her first time meeting the boys ever and Nick is her favorite. All I asked for was a hug at the time was a hug which I got so I was happy. So then he took pics with people outside and then got into the van.
I think AJ came down next and basically I got rather nervous. For anyone that knows me, they know that I've had the worst luck with AJ and even though I've been fortunate enough to get his autograph before, I had never gotten a pic with him. And every time I even get a chance to get a pic, something goes wrong. I don't even really remember what happened, but I ended up getting a pic with him... and thankfully, it didn't turn out too horrible. He looks great and I don't look as horrible as I thought I would... yay! He was also very nice just like nick was. Brian and Howie came down somewhere around here... I don't really remember because it was somewhat of a blur. What I DO remember is Kevin was the last one down... and as you'll see in the pics, he had his hands full. He had Gatorade, water, and a box of goldfish. Despite having all those in his hands, he took pics with us and autographed stuff for us... as well as asked us how our Thanksgiving was.
ALL of them were extremely nice. Three of our friends managed to do what me, Allison, and Jen had been trying for years to do in one day... they got pics with ALL of the boys. Up until this point, I only had pics with nick and Howie (only one with him). Not that I'm complaining, its always great seeing Nick and Howie. As soon as all of the boys left, we also headed down to the show... about 4 hours late. Thankfully we were in time for Frankie J and our boys at least. The boys did awesome and I'm sure there's already been reviews about JBB... the only complaint I had was that the set was short... I know that it's a radio show but I've seen headliners have longer sets than that at the radio show. Either way, they did an AMAZING job and it was amazing to see them perform again. Oh, and the reason I said Lindsay's present was a great idea, was because Nick actually wore the shirt that Lindsay had gotten for the boys. They all looked rather interesting at the concert... Ax’s shirt was hilarious but probably inappropriate (the front said: Don't sweat the petty things, the back said: Pet the sweaty things). It was overall an awesome experience. I want to know where all of the WA BSB fans came from. I swear I didn't know there were that many BSB fans in WA.
The next morning, the only one we saw was Nick. Before seeing Nick again, I had gotten him another Starbucks card. I gave it to him and he thanked me. Leena and I asked him what he gets at Starbucks and he replied a grande vanilla latte. I work at Starbucks, and I’m somewhat of a smartass, so without thinking, I asked him, "That's it?" Because for some reason I thought it'd be more complicated. He looked a little confused and said yes. I apologized and told him I work for Starbucks and so I was just curious. anyways, he was once again nice. He had his hair slicked back as you can see in the picture I cut myself out of. I think... that's most of it. I'm sure I’ll be adding more things as me and my friends remember... if anyone actually read all of this, I’m amazed. But I hope you enjoy the pics at least... it was one of the most amazing weekends ever.
