Kevin is the one who talks the most, AJ has the deepest comments, Nick is always joking around, Brian has the best attitude and he's always ready to answer and Howie only answers when he's touched by the question or when he feels like the right one to answer. Together they are the five most popular and talented guys that pop world has ever had, aren't they?
What is your comeback all about? What motivated you guys to do this world tour? BSB: We believe that the way we left being such a well known band wasn't the best. We felt that what was missing was that great goodbye all of our fans deserve. There was still a lot to give; anyhow, because of personal affairs we all had it was necessary to have a break at that time.
Was it hard getting used to recording and rehearsing again, being back to a performer's kind of life? (All five guys laughed and pointed to Nick, Howie finally said, "Ask him if it was hard") Nick: Since you are making me answer, I'll tell you that it was in fact really hard. As you can see I gained a lot of weight in the last few years, so being in a rigorous diet again, dancing every day, going to the gym and stop eating all the junk I like, has been horrible! But I'm getting there, I've lost several pounds and I think I'm on the right track. I'll make it! Brian: It is hard, because your life becomes much easier and calmer when you stop working in the entertainment business; you're with your family all the time; in my case, my wife and my son. Suddenly, you don't have that time any more because you have to rehearse, get in shape and accomplish an unbelievable amount of commitments; it turns out being really tough. Getting along with the rhythm again is not easy, but I know we can do it!
Go back in time 10 years ago, when your career was only starting, do you guys remember how you spent your first paycheck? (Nick was the first one to answer and yelled as if it was a speed contest, "An apartment!" The rest of the guys laughed and Kevin said, "No way, you couldn't afford that, it was nothing". "I was trying to be sarcastic" said Nick.)
Kevin: Alright, all jokes aside, I bought my mom a used car, because we'd never had one before and she needed it to go to work. Howie: You're probably not going to believe me but it's the truth; I used my check installing an air conditioner in my house so it wouldn't be so hot. AJ: I spent it all on silly stuff, clothes, jewelry, and I asked a thousand girls out that week. Nick: I can't remember quite well, I think I bought presents for my parents and siblings. Brian: I spent it on plane tickets for my family to come see me in Orlando. What do you do with all the money now?
Howie: Besides that, I donate money to the cure and research of lupus which is the disease why my sister passed away a few years ago. What does love mean to you? What is the craziest thing you've ever done for a girl? (They all laughed and Howie said, "Ask Nick to show you his arm".) Nick: You are picking on me once again; alright, I'll confess: I got a tattoo of my ex's name, Paris Hilton, and now it will be in my arm for quite a while. It's the kind of thing you do when you're really into someone; when the feeling goes away the only thing you can do is think, 'what an idiot I am!' Howie: Actually, I've never done anything too crazy, but I am very romantic. I've been with my girlfriend for a year and a half now and now we are living together and I'm very happy. I like giving her gifts, for example, the other day I filled the whole apartment with roses, her favorite flowers. Kevin: I've always been in love with the same woman, my wife. For me love is honesty and respect, I think it's what keeps us together. When you get married, the feeling changes, it's not the same as when you're just her boyfriend; so to me it's important to find the way of not falling in monotony, I like surprising her with trips. Brian: I've done everything for my wife, whatever she asks for. She always wanted to buy some Chihuahuas as pets and now they're home; they were definitely not my favorite dogs. You realize that it's worth making the person you love happy when she makes you laugh so much, like in my case. My wife got me for her sense of humor, I love her! AJ: Now that I think of it I've never been in love. I've been attached to people because I felt lonely and I needed affection, but I've never been crazy in love with someone. I hope it happens soon.
How has each of you evolved as a person? AJ: In my case, it has been a huge change. As you know, I had problems with alcohol addiction. That forbids you to look the world as it is, you miss things that you can't appreciate. Today I've been sober for more than a year and I'm proud of being able to see how wonderful life can be and that I'm stronger than the substances that were destroying me. Howie: I think I'm more mature. Sometimes life as a star doesn't allow you to keep your feet on the ground. Living through my sister's death made me realize there are a million more important things than success, fame or money. Family is number one. Brian: Being a father is a huge change. You suddenly realize you're no longer just responsible of yourself but of little person you created; so whatever you do or don't do affects him directly, that's a huge weight. Kevin: I think I'm more focused, now I take a longer time reflecting about the things I do and how I act. Having this career makes you feel invincible, and you're not. It's hard to see who loves you for who you are and not for what you got. Nick: Musically I think I've evolved; making a solo record made me grow in the professional aspect. In the personal aspect I think I will always be a kid, I need to mature a little more. Source: Tu Magazine (Colombia). Translated by Gina. |
