I shock a lot of people because I don't hide it. I speak freely of my love for their music. And, well, let's face it, I didn't hide my broken heart when AJ got engaged. LOL! I think they are very talented! Many songs have connected with my heart and given me energy to de-stress my day! When my best friend passed away, "Show me the meaning" was a great way to sing away my hurt and anger. To this day I listen to that song and it brings me a sense of peace. I hope they continue to bring us wonderful music and great entertainment. It's great that my 8 year old nephew thinks I'm "way cool" because I have quite the collection of BSB music. Thank you for providing the website with great pics and updated information! Sent in by Julia, 34, Santos, Brazil I knew BSB because my niece loved them. From that moment on I just loved the way they sing, their perfomances and their videos. Sent in by Karen, 38, St-Paul, MN You're never too old to enjoy good music and great eye candy! Sent in by Lynn, 39, Sweden I'm an American living here for a few years (my husband got transfered). I'm glad that the BSB come to Sweden a lot because I would go crazy. My husband thought he was getting me away from them. HAHA! Joke is on him. I am older, but I'd love a piece of Howie D! Now there's prime male beef if I ever saw some. I have a thing for Latinos. My husband is one. I saw Nick when he was here not too long ago. Such a pretty boy, but a nice kid. Took the time to take pictures with the fans and he made my 12 year old very happy. Sent in by Carrie, 34 of the UK I'm older and I'm a big fan! I love those guys! They are so talented and great eye candy. Howie and AJ are my faves. I got a chance to meet all the guys when they were doing a signing at the Virgin Megastore. They are all very sweet and attentive. Keep up the great work BSBAC! Sent in by Nadia, 38 of White River Junction, Vermont Yes there are backstreet fans in good ole Vermont. Not that I know any except my best friend Jaime and I. She's 41 and just as much of a fanatic as I am. Our hubbies think we both need to be institutionalized. lmao! My daughter likes Linkin Park and thinks pop music needs to die. She won't listen to the boys no matter what I bribe her with. My son is embarrassed that his "old mom" likes these "kids" as he calls them. He's 17 so you know it's just jealousy. I caught him looking through the official book when he didn't know I was there. I'm keeping that info for blackmail one day. lmao! It's great to see so many older fans supporting the greatest group in the world! I love them! Sent in by Blanca, 33 of Chicago, Illinois I am a single parent and AJ happens to be my favourite BSB. I am grateful for this ebsite. I just love the pictures, fan fics, and all the info that is provided. The music of BSB has helped me through some rough times, I consider it happy music. I have been able to go to a couple of concerts here in Chicago as well as most recently seeing their final show in Las Vegas this past Octover. It was great! My son loves their music and he is 10 years old. Thanks again! Sent in by Carol, 32, of Tiburon, California I'm 32 and married with three kids, all boys ages 4-10. I'm a stay at home mom, but I may return to work part-time when my youngest starts kindergarten next year. I don't have much time for myself, but it was during last post-pregnancy that I discovered the bsbs. My husband thought I was crazy at first, but he's come to enjoy their music as much as I do. He's taking me to their show in October (San Jose) as part of our 11th anniversary gift. I don't have a particular fave nor do I obsess over them like many other fans, but I still consider myself a huge fan and am proud to be an older fan, too. I am also in the MFC. Sent in by Dana, 37, of Salt Lake City, Utah Dana here. Glad to see I'm not the only older woman chasing after those young'uns -- well 'cept Kev. He's all man and almost 30. **grin** I must say, when my daughter begged me to take her to a concert in 99, I was so not into going. I complained and tried to find someone else to take her, but I didn't succeed. Now I'm glad I didn't. I must've enjoyed myself too much because Kasey told me afterwards that people were staring at me strangely. Do I care? Nope. I had fun and I got to drool over the sexy Howie. Now that is a man that I wouldn't mind having for one night. Ssh - don't tell my hubby. I love them boys. They are THE BEST! Sent in by Katherine, 35, of Sacramento, California The backstreet boys have brought me much happiness. As a single mother of two, I have shared them with my two daughters (ages 12 and 15) and together we went to concerts, bought cds, and just enjoyed the boys together. I feel bad at times that they have to live with so much craziness in their young lives, but I'm grateful that they decided to share their talent with us. Sent in by Carolyn, 38, of Mission, BC, Canada I want to start off by saying that I LOVE this site and come here daily to get my Backstreet fix. There's always something to read or drool over. LOL. As a mature fan, I've gotten a lot of ribbing from family and friends alike, but it just makes me stronger and prouder to be an older fan. I've been to two concerts, one here in 1998 and last year in Washington. I've gotten tickets to see them here next year and I can't wait. I'm going to take my 17 year old niece who's a big AJ freak. I myself prefer Howie, but they all rock! I love reading all the entries here and hope to see more of you soon! Keep that adult pride alive girls! Sent in by Cathy, 39, Seattle, Washington I love the BSBs!!!!!!! They are the best singers and they bring so much into my life! I may never be able to tell them in person so I hope they read this. I love you guys! Sent in by Amanda, 33, of Baltimore, Maryland I'm married with two kids under 10 years and I love the boys. My vhusband gets mad when I spend money on them, but I don't care. They make me happy and that's all that's important. My co-workers laugh sometimes when I react a certain way when I hear a BSB song on the radio and they tell me I'm too old to like kids, but hell, Kev's just 4 yrs younger than me. I'm always gonna support those boys because they are the best! Sent in by David, 34, of Brooklyn, New York I noticed that you don't have any many males in this little section here so I thought that I'd write up something. Yes, I am male, I am in my 30s and I do love the Backstreet Boys, and no, I'm not gay. Even if I were, there's nothing wrong with that, but so many people assume that if you're male and like the Boys, then you're gay and that's not so. I've been a fan for about two years. Their music soothes me. I had a chance to meet Kevin and Nick in New York last May and they were very kind. They really like the fact that they have male fans. It can get tedious going to concerts and being surrounded by thousands of boppers who look at you and wonder where your daughter is, but I don't care. As long as Backstreets around, I will be proud to be an adult fan. Sent in by Lisa, 35, of Clayfield, Ohio The Backstreet Boys rock. I just wanted to take a minute to send something for this section. I am a single female in my mid-thirties and I think Kevin Richardson is the sexiest man alive. I hope his fiancee appreciates him. I think the BSB are very talented and I can't wait to see what they end up doing in 10 years. They all have great futures ahead of them. Sent in by Shannon, 39 of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec Hi there! I love this site and I love the guys. It's awesome that you have a site for us older fans. It's about time people realized that the boys aren't just for the kiddies. They're for everyone. I think adults would have a lot more in common then a 12 year old would. But that's just my point of view. I've seen them in concert four times. Twice at the Molson Centre and twice in Quebec City. They're so good in concert. This last tour, especially, really showcased their talent as singers. I'm proud to be an older fan. My fave is Howie D. Sent in by Katherine, 37 of St-Thomas, Virgin Islands The Backstreet Boys are wonderful. Who cares of I'm old enough to be Nick's mother? They're a wonderful group of men who have riches in talent, personality, looks. My favorite is AJ. He's such a stud. They have never come here, but I'm going to the US (Florida) to see them this Winter. I can't wait. My daughter, Allia, who is 17, is a fan, too so we will be having a blast. This is my gift to her. She's always wanted to see them live. We have bonded over this and I can't thank these guys enough. Don't let anyone discourage you from loving them. Sent in by Gwen, 32 of Anaheim, California I love the Backstreet Boys! Especially Mr Howard Dorough. They're all fine. My boyfriend and friends laugh at me and tell me to grow up, but I ignore them. These boys, errrr, men, have inspired me, made me laugh, made me happy, and take me away from life's trials and tribulations. I wish each of them success and happiness now and every day in their lives. They deserve it. Sent in by Cassandra, 35 of Fort Lauderdale, Florida My first BSB concert and what an experience! I took my 8 year old daughter Amanda to see the Boys last weekend. I wasn't a fan, but now I am. I think I loved and appreciated what these guys were doing onstage more than Amanda did. She was there to ogle Nick and clap and scream. I was there to accompany her, but I soon found myself lost in the music, talent, creativity, and realness of the show. I couldn't stop smiling. We were sitting 5th row near center in the 100's and when the guys flew overhead, I had to wave. I found myself relieving my youth again. It was a wonderful experience. I don't know much about the Boys, but I've started surfing the Net and this is one of the first sites I came across when someone recommended I go to Caitlin's links. I wanted to see if there were actually adults out there who enjoyed them. And lo and behold, I find this site! It's like a dream come true for an old gal like me. I even see on this page women older than myself who like them. That makes me happy. There is no such thing as being too old. The teenies need to get over that. Maria, thanks for a wonderful site. And to all my fellow mature fans out there, KTBSPA! I learnt that already. :=) Sent in by Christie, 31 of Seattle, Washington I'm quite proud to be an adult fan. No matter what the critics say, the BSB are for everyone! There is no such thing as an age limit on liking music. My husband likes their music, too. He bought me a ticket to their concert for my b'day. I am going with my friend Ana, who is 33. We are going to be proud and we're going to have as much fun as any teenybopper. Thanks, Maria, for such an inspirational and fun site for us adults. Sent in by Theresa, 33 of Louisville, Kentucky I am a fairly new BSB fan. I live in Kentucky, home of 2 of our guys, and I am counting down to days til the Lexington show. When I was standing in line for my tickets, I saw several people that I knew and they asked what I was doing, and I told them, buying tickets for BSB. They just looked at me kinda funny and said, "Yea?!? For WHO?" (I have a 14 yr old son who is totally anti-BSB and pro Britney). I said for ME, gotta a problem with it? They would just grin and walk away. Now I said I was a fairly new fan, and the funny part is, my mom turned me on to the guys! She discovered them on the Shania Twain Winter Break special. (We were both into the Country Music thing). I watched that show too, but to see Shania and Elton John. The boys didn't do a thing for me. Well, I bought mom the BSB's Homecoming Video for x-mas, and after she basically forced me to watch it, well, I am hooked. **Maybe obsessed would be a better word** They are 5 of the most talented individuals that I have ever seen or heard. And when they sing together, the blend of their individual harmonies is unbelivable. I have great respect for them all. They seem to be handling all their success in stride and having a fantastic time doing it! KTBSPA!! ADULT FANS AROUND THE WORLD - UNITE!! Sent in by Magdelena, 36 of Madrid, Spain The BSB are for everyone any age! They are five very talented men with a lot of appreciation for what they have. I went to their concerts here and in Barcelona and I was lucky enough to meet Kevin, Nick, and Howie at their hotel in Barcelona. I asked them if they found it weird to have fans a lot older than them and Kevin said, "No way! I can relate to the older fans because they're closer to my age." And Nick said, "Music has no age. Love has no age. It makes the world go round." With that famous "sonrisa" of his. They were all very nice and took the time to pose for pictures and sign autograghs for me and my 3 friends who are my age, also. I told them that I lost my husband 3 years ago in a car accident and their music is what kept me going. Nick gave me a really big hug and kept saying he was sorry. I almost started crying. A lot of stuff happened, but it just made me appreciate them more as people, not just celebrities. KTBSPA! Sent in by Marnie, 31 of Lansing, Michigan I am an older fan and I am proud! I love the boys. They are full of hope, enthusiasm, and their strive to work hard and succeed makes them one of the hardest working groups in music today. I think the boys have broken barriers that no other "boyband" has yet to break, including copycat bands N Sync and Five, to name a few. The boys define pop music, have talent, and actually care about their fans. They spend at least 20 hours out of their day devoted to us. I got a chance to talk to them in Detroit last month and they were very pleasant. They stopped to sign autographs and take pictures even though they were in a rush. I will never forget that day nor will I stop loving them. They are the best. KTBSPA! |
